Coming At You

Just so you know where I’m coming from as I write these, I figured I’d give a bit of info for those who don’t already know me personally.  First, I’m a college student at University of Central Florida majoring in Pre-Law. I’d like to eventually go to the University of Colorado – Boulder and become an environmental lawyer. Needless to say, I’m a total tree-hugging, peace preaching, vegetarian, Buddha loving hippie and proud of it.

I am not a fan of big business, I don’t believe that we need more things to be happy, but I try to recognize complexity that is inherent in many different issues.  It’s difficult seeing complexity, though, in some issues that seem pretty clear to me and it’s something I’m sure I don’t do all the time.  I’m always open for debate as long as it doesn’t include irrational, personal attacks.

Also, a little fun fact: the header was a picture that I took at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve.  If you want to see other pictures that I’ve taken, go here: takingpictures.wordpress.com

That’s what I once exhorted my wife to do, go to law school for Environmental (she’s a senior environmental QA person of long experience). Then I made the mistake of buying her the book “A Civil Action.” LOL!

    Nice place ya got here.

  2. I haven’t read that book yet, but it certainly sounds powerful! I suppose what really matters is that she likes her job, but we COULD use more good environmental lawyers who DON’T work for corporations.

    Thanks for the comment!

I may be being dense, but why does a student at Central Florida University has photos of Leeds Pride and Harrogate on their Flickr account?

  4. BtB: If you’re referring to the photos that are shoing under My Flickr Photos, that’s a typo I’m going to remedy…those aren’t MY Flickr photos. For some reason I can’t get my account to show up and those are just random “interesting” pictures >.>

  5. I love your site! I want to also wish you the best of success in your pursuit of a law degree.

When I was younger this was my ambition…which was the reason behind my choice of college (Univ of Tx at Austin). However, life took me down a different path.

I spent 30 years as a Humanitarian Aid Relief Coordinator & Educator for First Responders. This allowed me entrance into numerous nations across four continents. Now that I’m back in the US permanently, it’s as if I landed on a different planet. (Palin VP choice?? PLEEZE!)

The educational road ahead of you may have some stumbling blocks…use them as stepping stones. Surround yourself with those that will support and encourage your goals. Our nation needs those of you that are willing to “pay the price” for obtaining a good education…and not willing to sit on the sidelines and let others do it for them.

I look forward to reading some more of your posts. You do a great job!

    Kindest Regards,

    Michelle

  6. michelle: Thanks for the advice and the compliments! The US does seem like a different planet, even to those of us who have lived here continuously their whole lives.
